Another Bank Account

I've been banking at the same credit union for roughly 10 years now.  For the most part i'm happy with their service and lack of fees.  But, I decided to open another account at a local bank.  I'm having $50 of each paycheck direct deposited there and I plan on depositing any extra cash or checks I get.  I plan on using this account as a sort of savings account.  Its inconvenient for me to use and I plan on leaving the atm card at home at all times.  I'll deposit any cash I get, gift cash, and rebate checks.  I hope by the end of the year to have at least $1000.00 in there.  So far I have $60.  The bank deposited $10 for me joining, i've deposited $30 in rebate checks, and I deposited $20 I won from a scratch off that husby put in my Christmas stocking.
